Water and weather conditions are constant factors in river fishing, especially in spring. While the New River offers good fishing in a variety of conditions and we usually fish in the rain, we want your experience to be both enjoyable and safe, so we will reschedule your trip should unsafe or un-fishable conditions arise. These can be last minute calls.

The section of the New River we will be fishing is currently being managed as a trophy fishery by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. We here at New River Angler whole-heartedly support this effort by using only artificial baits and practicing strict catch-and-release of all bass and muskies landed. These practices are designed to minimize harm to our fish and to protect and enhance our great fishery and your river adventure.

The state of Virginia recognizes trophy fish that have been caught and released with a citation program designed to reward the successful angler while preserving our precious brood stock. These handsome letters of citation are suitable for framing and we will assist you in the application process.
